04 Feb BRITISH NUCLEAR FUELS LTD (BNFL) Deep borehole Pumping Test, low-level radioactive waste repository, Drigg, Cumbria, England
THIS IS AN HISTORIC PROJECT.
A deep groundwater borehole was constructed into the St Bees (Triassic) Sandstone at the BNFL low-level radioactive waste repository in Drigg, Cumbria, with the objective of determining representative aquifer properties and groundwater quality at the site.
Additional monitoring piezometers were also completed in extensive overlying glacial drift/ till deposits.
A four-day pumping test was conducted and analysed of the leaky aquifer system in oirder to detrmein representative hydraulic parameters.
A tracer test was also conducted in the overlying glacial drift deposites to determine time of travel and dispersion parameters.
